SENT: -ERR A SSL/TLS-connection is required for authentication

Postby dlee5400 » 2015-01-04 01:25

I can not figure out how to allow my Outlook to login back into hMailserver — I don't have the SSL/TLS on, I will admit I was looking at how to do this but I never turn it on for SMTP 25 or 110- I was working with port 587. Did I trigger something in Outlook or in hMailserver to get this message:"TCPIP" 3388 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.030" "TCP — 99.xx.xx.xxx connected to xxx.xx.xx.xxx:110.""DEBUG" 3388 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.030" "TCP connection started for session 40""POP3D" 3388 40 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.030" "99.xx.xx.xxx" "SENT: +OK POP3""POP3D" 2520 40 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.139" "99.xx.xx.xxx" "RECEIVED: CAPA""POP3D" 2520 40 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.139" "99.xx.xx.xxx" "SENT: +OK CAPA list follows[nl]USER[nl]UIDL[nl]TOP[nl].""POP3D" 3396 40 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.232" "99.xx.xx.xxx" "RECEIVED: USER dlee@d…x.com""POP3D" 3396 40 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.232" "99.xx.xx.xxx" "SENT: -ERR A SSL/TLS-connection is required for authentication.""DEBUG" 3388 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.326" "The read operation failed. Bytes transferred: 0 Remote IP: 99.xx.xx.xxx, Session: 40, Code: 2, Message: End of file""DEBUG" 3388 "2015-01-03 17:08:18.326" "Ending session 40"I redacted the email and IP addresses so the actual message has a real IP and email address in the message…Thanks,

SO, right after I submitted this I realized that I added my home IP range into the IP Range: I checked the setting "Require SSL/TLS for authentication" and it was checked. I believe I must have done something to activate that…Not sure but when I unchecked the box my Outlook was able to login …So this is fixed! Thanks,
